"We are pleased with the market's reaction following the announcement by the European central banks on September 26. It confirms our belief that gold's supply/demand fundamentals would support a higher gold price once the opportunity for unprecedented speculative short selling was removed."

Victimized??!!! Hell, the gold mining companies appear to have actually participated by BORROWING/LEASING gold from the CBs and selling it short, as it became apparent that there was excess production of gold to meet demand several years ago.

I used to word "victimized" for a good reason. As reported on the Bloomberg website, a number of gold companies were blackmailed into the hedging game in order to ensure their line of credit would be intact. As a consequence of that nefarious and dastard deed, many poor guys like me were almost consigned to the poorhouse! Needless to say, many were ruined! All simply because of the unbridled greed and selfishness of a relative few.

To cut a long story short, I think the US Govt/Feds' attempt to discredit gold and finesse it away from the European banks to ensure an enduring hegemony of the US dollar had gone completely awry, thanks to thelikes of Bill Murphy. To be sure, the so-called "Hannibal Lecters/Cannibals" were hoisted by their own petard, as the saying goes. Maybe their attempt was also geared towards making electronic currency coming into vogue sooner than later and ensuring success of the ongoing theft* of the people's wealth by the government.

O yeah! come to think of it, maybe a return to the gold standard might be a good interlude. Simply because FIAT money has caused a whole slew of problems the world over!!!

*(Simply because government can "create" money out of thin air! in a jiffy)
