Gary,

the other anecdotal evidence is the wireless gateway activity (IWF) with Sprint and other CDMA operators, their very ambitious 3G plans that were announced in Telecom 99, their partnership with MSFT to ship home networking products under the Microsoft brand, their wireless home and office networking plans. And, finally, (this is real anecdotal) I love my 3Com ISDN LAN modem, one of 12 Office Connect products they announced recently.

Gary, in your posts you incessantly say sans Palm 3Com is wasted etc..., well I wish to remind you and anyone else on this thread that it was 3Com's doing that made the Palm the dominant PDA in the world and it was 3Com's brand recognition and distribution channels that assisted in making the Palm what it is today. It was also 3Com's wherewithal that paid for the R&D associated with the Palm's advancement. Don't ever fool yourself to think Dubinsky would have ever been able to accomplish this without the faith and resources of another company like 3Com.

If the Palm reigns 3Com should be given the majority of the credit and not its founders. Isn't it the ability to market and distribute a product in a timely fashion that usually takes it to it's pinnacle of success?

Once the Palm is spun off I am certain they will put more emphasis on their own core technologies and the emerging markets of Wireless and Broadband.

If I am to judge the company by its past I will choose everything in it's past and that will include the success of the Palm and it's current position in the Wireless world. Have you ever thought of how they were able to create a wireless PDA. Don't you think most of the technology came from the core of 3Com's own research in the emerging markets pertaining to Wireless and Broadband etc, which initially had nothing to do with the Palm. Come on lets be fair, I know that is difficult for you but try to be sincere and objective.
