This is what I am talking about. Only having talked to one MM, he does this on a daily or hourly basis. He goes home flat or neutral. Every day. This is why I think that MP may be a good predictor all month. I would guess that the reason for the big swings at the end of the option cycle is not the MM's but rather the non-locals unwinding or rolling out, rolling down, rolling up current positions and then MM's having to adjust by making big moves in the equity markets to hedge. In other words, MM's react to the trades brought to them to bring themselves to neutral. When a lot of trades come at them (expiration week) they have to make big plays on the underlying to hedge.
