Gene,

I swear some folks will never learn

You can say that again! I think that is the understatement of the day(though you may not have meant it in the way I am thinking).

Should I actually sell the Qcom I got at 100 at about 195 tomorrow and pay the taxes, reducing my real gain to about a price of 162?

This is conspicuously absent from nearly all postings here on SI regarding the selling of stock, but is an important part of the equation since taxes reduce the actual price. It's easy to say the market is expensive; looking at historical numbers, many large cap names are indeed trading at premiums. But then many are also delivering superb earnings numbers. AMAT for one, earned a record 17.1% NM last Q, and we are only a few months into this upcycle! IMHO, this type of performance is well deserving of a premium. Ooops, I don't want to sound like I'm pounding the table here, people may actually make money:-)

Regards,

Brian
