Well, I'm stuck in egrp now. I did a fair job evaluating the company since the day I bought was when one of the (many) negative WSJ articles or downgrades, or something... (there was something negative coming out every day then).

But the problem with this sector is the economic backdrop matters and that is too unpredictable... oh well...

You should have called me at Oracle in 1993! We were almost dying of exhaustion over there in 1993 there was so much demand. But 94 is when things really took off for the stock as I'm sure you know. It was nothing like today though, back then a 3-bagger was just unheard of!

BTW, whatever is good for NITE's stock price is likely going to help the OLBs and vice-versa.

not necessarily true. olb's are experiencing severe competition, and hence the current aggressiveness by the olb's in attracting traders (certain amount are new traders, some non-online, others switch from one olb to another olb). nite benefits from the olb's sending orders to nite and will benefit so long as olb volume grows, but with so many olb's, even as online trading grows, it does not mean they will prosper since there is so much competition in the olb sector.

I didn't see the interview but at least the guy has showed some empathy for NITE given that he was blindsided

Bob,

The interview was pretty brief and pretty lame. Here is an accurate transcript from the YHOO board:

Mark Haines interviews Amar Mehta, E-Financial Services Analyst, CIBC World Markets. Believe it or not, Mark puts a positive spin on Knight:

Amar, "I like Knight/Trimark. I think Knight/Trimark has gone through ah, pretty much, pretty much receives the flow from the on-line brokers: E-trade, Ameritrade and the bulk of the other ones. And I think going forward they have stronger growth than what's pretty much put into the stock price right now"

Mark, "Well they're kind of the casino owner, aren't they? I mean they're the people..."

Amar, "They're the house."

Mark, "They're the house."

Amar, "They're the house."

Mark, "So you know it doesn't matter whether Schwab or Ameritrade or E-Trade gets more accounts, Knight will benefit no matter what as long as there's more activity.

Amar, "Correct."

Mark, "OK, so you would buy Knight as well?"

Amar, "Yea."

Mark, "OK."
