Today can be a nice set-up for the proverbial "sell to whom" scenario. Even if the CPI number comes out just what the doctor ordered for the market cheerleaders and new-era thinkers, it won't help them in terms of jacking-up share prices. IMO, of course! I am speaking from sentiment as expressed on the bubblevision - CNBS and other financial shows on the weekend. The whole spin machinery is working over time in making the janata believe that:

The economy is good
Corporate profits are good
Information age
Productivity is super - even if inflation jacks-up
e-commerce will be 5 trillion dollars economy by 2001!
yada
yada

It worked as long as it worked. This confidence game which has no real analytical merit has to come to an end soon. And it will! IMO!
