Ooops ~ the Stanley I'm thinking of might be a 22 oz. Great mid-range hammer. The 28 oz are good for heavy stuff, but if one goes to 32 oz w/o a good reason, they BE SORRY. It's a whacker, man.

But it gets hard to do "stuff" with a hammer bigger than 22 oz.

Just buy it by feel. Never seen a head come off a Stanley metal handle. Or a fiberglass.

I don't think I'd let someone buy it for Cmas.

Maybe somebody else, eg Croc or Ish, know about forged heads, but I wouldn't know it if it bit me. Really. I guess cuz I haven't bot a hammer for 20 years, and don't use them as much as screws.
