I agree with you that survey courses on religion would be wonderful- in high school. I would not personally appreciate them for elementary or middle school students as I do not believe the critical skills of students of those ages are really adequate for the evaluation of religious beliefs- I say this speaking generally- because I know there are children in those age groups who are quite advanced, but in general I think courses which survey religion are more appropriate to high school and college.
