Using C-Cube's DVxplore MPEG-2 CODEC with advanced MPEG-2 compression algorithms, TV-Server can to store up to 30 hours of video in MPEG-2. TV-Server also incorporates a number of advanced features that are based on the unique capabilities of C-Cube's DVxplore. C-Cube's encode/decode capability allows FAST users to perform TV timeshifting (pause, fast-forward, rewind and instant replay of live or recorded broadcasts). FAST has also incorporated two DVxplore chips into TV-Server, allowing users to record two shows at one time. As a planned option for TV-Server, C-Cube's realtime DV to MPEG transcoding capability will allow FAST users to connect their DV camcorders to the TV-Server and store their footage in MPEG-2.
