Morning, Ish. I thought you would have one of those hydraulic splitters, maybe from a PTO. Call me crazy.

That's what I thought the Monster Maul must be. Must have been drinking. But, in truth, wood heating is a lot of work and dirt compared to a thermostat supplied with gas, for us soggers. People used to burn a lot of wood here, and now you don't see it as much. And there are still trees!

I tried to split some Oregon white oak once. The axe would just bounce, no matter how hard you hit it. Odd. Won a bet with a friend, that he couldn't split a single piece, but he got mad when he lost. Matter of fact, I haven't seen him since. It was just a bet ~ no money. (Loser.)

Beautiful, beautiful wood though. Different from Eastern White Oak, completely. (Quercus alba vs Quercus garryanna? I forget.) Man, I love wood. I hate to see good stuff burned, actually.

How many mills are around you? I don't picture mills there, which is pretty ignorant, I admit. I picture corn, and rows of corn. And farm houses, railroads, silos and cattle. Corn fed hogs. We're just as provincial as people back East who say Arigun for Oregon and think we hunt and fish. And wear caps. And live in campers.
