Art,

<< It's not clear to me, now that CDMA2000 is a recognized standard (but not exclusive of WCDMA), whether QCOM will ask for and receive WCDMA royalties >>

I have been making the assumption (perhaps incorrectly) that although the amount of the royalty is not settled, that QCOM is entitled to royalties on WCDMA which incorporates the cdma air interface and consequently will ask for and should receive royalties on WCDMA. Perhaps we have to wait to see how it plays out.

I would certainly like to invite comment on this.

Art -

On the Q stand last Thursday I was assured a number of times that Q owns CDMA..period. If it moves and it is CDMA then Q gets paid royalties.

That has been said on both threads several times over the last few months.

Best regards,

L

the eu has made it clear that wcdma will be "the" standard but other standards are welcomed.
i also find it interesting that erickson buys q's cdma
infrastructure business and then teams up with nokia to push wcdma and not cdma2000. you would think q would have worked that little detail out. this will be interesting and will make a difference to q's earnings in the future.
