Off topic: Stock options & other stuff ...

I think my original post on this stuff was slightly misunderstood. I wasn't against non-critical employees making fortunes with stock options, I was against these employees being systematically underpaid at the same time being motivated by the promise of stock-option riches. I was trying to express the opinion that these people should be paid fairly. A source of confusion was my decision to include in my post that the suggestion that given fair pay, these people could choose to invest in the shares of their employer and enjoy the rewards of their company's success along with management and stockholders. What I neglected to point out was the existence of people working for low pay and stock options which eventually turn out to be worthless. In this case, these people are left with nothing but their low income and an empty dream. Without the windfall, they've been exploited, pure and simple, since people in their position rarely influence the success or failure of their company.

The other point I made about janitors becoming millionaires was not against janitors, but an attempt to exemplify that management could've received the service of a janitor for much less, and hence, management overpaid for this service. Since management is responsible for the stewardship of the owners' investment, any failure to carry out this duty points to a management shortcoming. As for the janitor, she's only making the best use of the opportunities available to her, and as such, is doing a better job of looking after her interests than her bosses; hence, the rich reward.

I just wanted to point out this management shortcoming, because the resources being wasted is ours. (Sharholders)
