all markets in the tank for a week + - Buckey PFs are up relative to last Monday.

Many caveats around that statement. Not the least of which is _ be careful of data. after 345 down weeks in a row I knew I would get an up week <vbg>

"Interesting after a run like the markets have had since 1992 to now that people become fearful of those same stocks. What has changed from then until now????"

They have tripled in price...

I have quite a different take on things. Expanding P/E multiples are based on two major factors:
#1)Investor's expectations of further growth in earnings and therefore share price.
#2)Interest rates stable or falling.

Interest rates bottomed last year and still look to be heading higher...this is different than it has been 1995-98. As far as P/Es go...I think that the % earnings growth is starting to decline and therefore multiples should contract.
Add to this the problems in the gold market which could possibly challenge the definition of money in the last half century...add Y2K paranoia...add SEC investigations of trading activities and things are very very different.
