Here it is in cut and paste form. Just so you know, all news releases are on AFCI site.

AFC Signs Contract with SBC Operations, Inc.

PETALUMA, California, June 24, 1999 ? Advanced Fibre Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ; AFCI) announced today that it has signed an agreement with SBC Operations, Inc. ("SBC") to supply AFC's UMC1000© systems. SBC's domestic wireline operations include Pacific Bell, Nevada Bell, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, and Southern New England Telecommunications. AFC, a leading provider of telecommunications access equipment for local independent phone carriers, will now be able to extend its flagship product's reach to an eight-state area covered by SBC.

The agreement with SBC is based on an amendment to an existing contract with Pacific Telesis under which AFC had previously deployed its UMC1000 systems to Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell. During the extensive evaluation process AFC trained the SBC user community on how best to utilize the UMC1000 for deployment.

Under the contract amendment, shipments to SBC are expected to begin immediately. The contract contains no contractual commitment regarding volumes of purchases. Additionally, AFC has met SBC's Supplier Diversity challenge and has developed a strategic business relationship with a Diversity supplier to meet SBC's business needs. This agreement signifies AFC's potential to expand its sales to larger carriers.

Here is another little tidbit from a Jan 99 SBC news release.

SBC also announced plans today to offer ADSL service to millions of its customers in Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas by the end of 1999, and will begin ADSL trials in Connecticut later this month.

The company has also completed joint initiatives with Dell Computer Corp. and Compaq Computer to promote more convenient access to ADSL.

"We are moving aggressively to provide the advanced high-speed data services customers throughout our territory are demanding," said Edward E. Whitacre Jr., SBC chairman and CEO. "We are committed to ADSL technology and to building the multi-media corridor to homes and businesses that will enable people to change the way that they work, learn, shop and play."
