Maverick, It looks like alcatel is taking the bulk of this contract. LU already has a 5 year multibillion dollar contract in place with SBC. Alcatel Gets $4.5 Bln Funding From SBC Communications, NYT Says

Paris, Oct. 18 (Bloomberg) -- SBC Communications Inc., which said it will spend $6 billion over the over the next three years to offer high-speed Internet access and other new services to customers, plans to use $4.5 billion of it for digital subscriber lines provided mostly by Alcatel SA, the New York Times said. Analysts and industry experts said the other $1.5 billion allocated for ''Project Pronto'' will be spent mostly on developing advanced transmission systems in the core of the company's network. Executives close to the company said the project will generate $3.5 billion in annual revenue by 2004, the paper reported.

SBC is the largest U.S. local phone company.
