I don't really think Greenspan is the problem. I think it's more a result of having large amounts of money controlled by the immature. Everybody expects to get rich overnight, and when any little thing comes along that negatively affects their confidence they panic, thinking that by selling they're going to preserve their meager profits. I suspect as often as not they end up getting back in at higher prices, not having recognized the bottom, and that they would have been better off just staying put. Perhaps it's partly that "daytrading" is fashionable, despite being an expensive fashion to pursue.

I think the better strategy is to focus on the long haul; I know it has worked for me. Megatrends can be easier to spot than microtrends.

But that's JMHO.
