OT: yankee/baseball fans, i purchased the sotheby's auction catalog for barry halper's auction. it's $100 (2 volumes, really, of 2400 lots). there are pictures for 2/3 of the lots, and some of the stuff is just incredible...

the reason i mention this is one of the lots was the 15 world series rings for the yanks from 47-64, or some years like that...

Yankees, I already ran out during the weekend in the floods and darkness and bought a color tv on batteries. I could not even find a store open as the lights were out in most of a 1 mile radius, but I spied a small, neglected Radio Shack and lo and behold they had a tv, batteries, flashlight and everything. The generator will come later, its actually a very attractive 5,500 watt affair. As long I can hook up my fridge, 'puter, and cable I can fly. I am also going to load up on batteries for the 'laptop. Lights were out last night as well and I was sitting in the dark waiting to post the watch list and watched the grand slam on a 2.5 inch color tv.
