Lock-Up Release

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Redback Networks, Inc., (Nasdaq: RBAK - news) today announced that
Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, the lead underwriter for Redback's initial public offering, will release the underwriters' lock-up
restrictions currently imposed on an additional twelve million shares of Redback Common Stock held by Redback
shareholders. The shares will be available for sale no earlier than Monday, October 18, 1999.
