Thedewar, a plan of attack made in advance is always a good idea. We too are waiting on the CPI numbers before making any further moves. PPRO is at the top of the list if CPI does not bring any surprises.

On the other hand, a bad CPI could lead all markets further down then most are willing to admit. US consumer has been in negative savings for quite a while and at an all-time high for stock market investments. The same holds true for investments on "margin".

Conclusion? We fear that a bad CPI could lead to a chain reaction of downward selling as stop losses and margin calls are reached. As such, though most are not openly admitting, a further 10% drop on major indices is not out of the question if CPI comes in too strong.
