Digital Microwave Corporation Signs Major Infrastructure Partnering Agreement SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Microwave Corporation (Nasdaq: DMIC), today announced that the Company has entered into a strategic partnership sales agreement with a major telecommunications infrastructure provider. The agreement includes a number of products in Digital Microwave's extensive line of radio products and associated network management. The non-exclusive agreement has an estimated value in excess of $100 million over a three-year period. The products are to be deployed globally in developing and expanding communications networks used for broadband wireless access, cellular and other types of telecommunications services. The sales value contained in the agreement is estimated and is not a guaranteed level, and it could be less than or greater than the estimate. "We are pleased to announce the expansion of our relationship with a major telecommunications infrastructure company," said Charles Kissner, Digital Microwave's Chairman and CEO. "This type of agreement represents the results of focused efforts on global partnering that the Company launched to develop new channels to market for the Company's new, broader product line." The products included in this agreement include the innovative Altium(TM) broadband radio, which offers 155 Mbps capacity in 28 MHz of spectrum. On October 4, the Company announced that as of December, 1999, the product will be shipping in frequencies of 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 23, 26, 28, and 31 GHz, and Altium 38 GHz radios will be available in the first part of year 2000. The Altium radio offers the highest spectral efficiency and fullest coverage of frequencies of any wireless broadband access radio on the market. Additional products covered in the agreement include the Company's narrowband and long-haul radio products and network management system. The SPECTRUM(TM) II, XP4 and DART(TM) products are low-cost, quickly deployable radios providing dedicated DS-1/E1 to DS-3/E3 capacities. The radios are used extensively for interconnection of base stations in mobile networks worldwide.
