The info I got from my VAR sounded like intimidation - they probably used a carrot and stick approach.

If they hadn't had this infatuation with rambus, it might have worked. Imagine if Intel hadn't infuriated all the memory, motherboard and chipset makers first, then had to deal first with scary cost and yield issues, then with the doubts raised by the camino problem.

Intel might have been able to convince the board makers that selling parts that supported AMD was too dangerous - thanks to rambus, it was obviously just as dangerous to support Intel!

Hey Paul, tell us; aren't you just a wee bit disappointed in the whole "nothing but Rambus at any cost" strategy at this point?
