OT - Jim Willie, you're miles off in your boomer numbers.

you see a monstrous blip between ages 50-55
you see tailing of that blip ages 45-50
you see nothing special ages 30-45
you see a sizeable blip ages 20-30

boomer: 50-55
boomlet: 45-50

In the US, boomers are those born between 1946 and 1964. The peak was in 1957, at 3.7 children per family. Your "nothing special" age group of 30-45 actually contains the peak of the boom, i.e., those boomers who are about 42 now.

There were only 3 other Western countries that had baby booms; Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Canada's was the biggest of them all, peaking in 1959, at about 4.2 children per family. Canada's boom started later and ended later (1947-1966) because more of the US war effort was in the Pacific, which wound down sooner, and many troops came home in 1945. Canada's troops came home later.
