Guess that explains why Dell insiders sold tons of stock last quarter. Loaded to the gunwales in puts!!! Now if INTC officers would just tell the truth of the impact of parts shortages due to Taiwan earthquake.

They forgot to mention shortages in keyboards, monitors, plasma displays, etc...

Dell: ``We are also taking actions to reduce overall memory consumption, including advertising system configurations with lower amounts of base memory.'

I hope this doesn't mean that they will try to compete on price against a 128mb computer with a 64mb or 96mb computer. That would cost them market share. They can recover rapidly if profit drops for a quarter, but not if they lose market share.

This tactic, of suggesting less memory to hold a price line, insults my intelligence. It also dissappoints me. I had come to expect higher standards of business ethics from Dell. This sounds downright shady. Dell's only recourse is to eat the cost. Any other action will cost them more than money.

Umbro, Wasn't it just a week ago when Dell was lying, er, saying that there would be no impact? Man, things change fast when reality reaches Round Rock. And, yes, I am loaded with puts and about to get loaded on booze after that great news. <g>
