She dances herself to death? Geez, I didn't know that. I haven't listened to it in years, but I recall being moved when I did hear it. Even if you don't read the liner notes, it somehow comes through that the music celebrates the very earthy rites of our forebears. I guess that is genius.

My Top Shelf Award goes to Beethoven's Late Quartets, particularly Op. 131. They all start melancholy, but wind up on a soaring riff that is just so ennobling...
