Toronto-based Agnico, a mid-sized producer whose shares have soared in recent weeks in step with a stunning rise in the price of
bullion, reported last week it had discovered gold almost three kilometres beneath the surface of LaRonde.

The company tantalized delegates at the Denver Gold Group's annual conference with suggestions that the good news from
LaRonde would only get better as the company ramped up production through to the year 2004.

``The recent exploration results indicate our LaRonde deposit has the potential to get much larger,' said Agnico Chief Executive
Sean Boyd, who added that the company would continue to avoid hedging its gold.
