Hi. So, today I called around and found that I can get a cubic yard of topsoil for $20, or a cubic yard of 1/3 topsoil, 1/3 sand and 1/3 composted leaves for the same price, if I get 6 cubic yards delivery is free. Can't hardly beat that, can you? A cubic yard of dirt is 27 cubic feet, that's a mound of dirt 1 ft tall, 1 ft wide, and 27 ft long. Seems like 6 cubic yards might be enough to fill in behind the retaining wall we're building, it's going to be 24 inches tall and we'll slope the dirt backwards. I guess I'll find out.

And a cord of split firewood, mixed hardwood, is $150, delivered and dumped in the driveway for us to stack.

And I think I told you about the trees we bought? Not sure, but I think so.

This is actually a lot of fun.

Chris got the electified wire "fence" put in, it's just a wire underground, and a radio collar that the dog wears that shocks her when she gets near. It really works, except when the cats run past, then she will run past it, shocks and all. The shock stops her short when she isn't going fast, but she chased a cat across the street, both of them in front of a car. My thought is to shave her fur where the electrodes go, and see if that stops her.

I tried digging a hole with a shovel, to see if it was hard, and it wasn't, although I am sure it can get tiring. So now I am ready to plant trees, and possibly dig postholes, if the shaved fur approach doesn't work.
