FP:

It looks increasingly likely that Pangea will get the Ashanti JV'd properties back. I don't think Ashanti is going to make it in the form its in now. I look for a break up and sale of assets.

The Ghanian mine minister was fired for agreeing to sell 10% of Ghana's ownership in the mine. It is Ghana's largest employer and dominates their stock exchange. No way Ghana is going to let their 20% go anywhere. The mine is in their country and they'll nationalize it before they give up any of their ownership and control. The road to acquiring Ashanti goes through the Ghanian government with a plan that keeps them happy. I see a breakup and Pangea getting their properties back.

I think Ashanti runs the risk of being broken up into pieces
one major buys this and another buys that. Just an opinion
Barrick would surely love to buy the ashanti properites JV'd with Pangea- reinforcing its hold 'on to' Pangea.

All they have to do later is buy MDN-M (tulawaka) -or for that matter the rest of Pangea too!!

Its also possible that Pangea gets back its ashanti JV'd properites as Terry suggests- but I think Barrick will
do all it can to get its hands on them- JMHO
