freeus from the libertarian thread once claimed a fidelity IRA allows buying and selling options but I am leery of that, I think there are federal regulations against it. If you want to play the downside you can buy the bearx fund... but even that is problematic because as a fund it tends to underperform when the assets come gushing in. I don't think theres anything wrong with shorting in principle in an IRA but since its a margin transaction they don't allow it... which kinda sucks.
