Vodafone dips as Mannesmann moves on Orange
Analysts said any move by Mannesmann could upset long-standing links between itself and Vodafone.

``Vodafone and Mannesman were almost partners in the informal sense because they had joint shareholdings in Germany, France and Italy and I think there's a concern that if Mannesman does its own thing, then that unofficial partnership will be terminated,' SG Securities analyst Jim McCafferty said.

``Orange is Vodafone's biggest competitor in the UK...and if Mannesmann were to buy Orange, Vodafone would see that as a conflict of interest,' he said.
