From Noam regarding a few questions that some of you suggested a few days ago

Thanks for your suggestions. Those are very good questions, and we will
try to address them at the call. If there is anything still unclear,
please feel free to email me or attend our next annual meeting (December).

Let me just answer now your question about the differences between ZUMA,
Charlotte and the OSR 8040.

The OSR 8000 series is the first Switch/Router to feature an open source
(Linux) based routing protocol. It is aimed at the Enterprise and small to
medium ISP market. The advantage of a Linux based machine is the
flexibility to pick and choose best-of-breed applications that can run in
parallel to the Routing Protocols. These can include billing, firewalls,
etc. Also, we believe that lead users will be able to contibute to the
software in ways that are not possible in closed protocols.

The Aranea and ZUMA are an order of magnitude faster (200 Gbps++ range, VS
20 Gbps for the OSR). ZUMA is an Enterprise machine with Ethernet, Fast
Ethernet and Giagbit Ethernet intefaces. Aranea is a carrier backbone
(Core) Router with Packet over SONET interfaces (OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 and
ultimately OC-192).

They are very different devices, with a completely different Architecture.

Thanks,

Noam
