There go the stops. Where are the buyers, where are the companies covering their hedges, this rally is collapsing with little more than a whimper.

Bobby, you brought up the key phrase.. "Melting Pot".

One of the reasons that Japan and Europe are economically ham-strung is due to their cultural and racial xenophobia. While most nations have non-indigenous groups in their society, thus far only the US seems to provide that environment where money can make you socially equal with the prevailing aristocracy.

No, we're not perfect here in the US, but we have a culture where success is generally measured by your accomplishments, not which family name you were christened with, or how far back your royal history extends.

As for the Japanese, one of the major problems they face is that they are unwilling to permit foreigners to own Japanese companies, whereas here in the US, one of our largest automakers was just acquired by the Germans.

So the point being, here I am, a smart and ambitious engineer, scientist, or financial talent and I'm looking for the place where my abilities will find the friendliest reception. Hmmm.. Japan? Nope. Move to Europe?... Hmmm... no.. How about the US? Hey!!... that's not a bad idea.

And that "brain drain" of the world's intellectual talent has been one of the greatest reasons for the success of the US system.

The US motto... "If you don't have or can't invent it yourself... then buy it, or provide the incentives to those who have invented it. And then incorporate it into your economy, and incorporate the person into your society.

Thanks for bringing up that important point that differentiates the US from the rest of the world.

Maybe one of these days we'll see waves of immigration from the US to Europe and Japan... but I don't think I'll live to see it.... :0)

Regards,

Ron
