mr.mark and all, I just installed memturbo and it is
running. All went flawlessly and it looks like a pro job. I
have manually asked it to reclaim memory and - by its own
indicator- it was successful. I will observe and report
in a few days. Thank you for the encouragement!

mr.mark, memturbo puts an icon in the system tray on the
task bar. Hovering the mouse pointer over it displays PM.
[physical memory]. To check on memturbo I enabled the PM
indicator in Norton. Readings are reasonably close. Any
discrepancy is probably due to sampling interval and timing.
