Hank - a couple of things come immediately to mind. I get a minor burning sensation when I use Zicam while my nose is already irritated, but not as severe as you describe. So I'm wondering if you squirted it too far up your nose, instead of just inside your nostrils as one should. And don't inhale it. Also, I believe I confirmed with Howard Epstein once that the stuff is absorbed very quickly, so after pinching your nose for a minute (or even less) you should feel free to blow your nose. It's much more comfortable to use the stuff if you are able to start before your nose is running that much, obviously.

As far as the cost is concerned, an independent non-discount pharmacy near me sells it for much less than you paid. But keep in mind that the same bottle has enough stuff for more than one cold, depending on whether you use it every 4 hours or more like every 2. Personally, if I had to pay $15 or even $20 for a bad cold to be gone in 3 days, I'd do it gladly. -Eric

Hank,

Thanks for trying Zicam. I appreciate getting feedback on what people think about the product and whether they are satisfied with the results. For that reason, and that reason only, I'm glad that you got a cold lol. Possibly the other three people that you mentioned will try it so we can get more data points.

People on Yahoo have reported finding Zicam at prices ranging from $7.99 to $12.99, so the amount that you paid is at the high end. I understand your concern that consumers might object to the price if they comparison shop. However, if one were to calculate the cost per dose, Zicam is cheaper than most other products and it doesn't make you feel groggy like many other cold products. It is also more effective and some people equate a higher price with higher quality.

Most people have reported a slight burning sensation when Zicam is first applied. A few people said that it burns a lot, but most say that it is mild. I noticed a slight burning sensation the first time that I used it and my nose ran a little for a minute or so. I would much rather deal with that than a two week cold, and the sensation seemed to diminish after a few doses. It could be that I got used to the feeling or it could be that the inside of my nose became less irritated since it was working. I was also concerned that the medicine would come out if I sneezed after taking it, but was reassured that it absorbs very quickly and that it is unlikely that you will sneeze it out if applied according to the instructions.

I hope your cold goes away soon so that you can enjoy your hunting trip this weekend. Thanks again for giving it a try. I look forward to your feedback.

Dan
