Was it ERICY that they sold the affiliate to??

I thought they sold something to a European, either ALA or ERICY about 6 months after the NT Cambrian sale.

I guess old age is triumphing over a good memory.

Ian.

An excerpt from yesterday's New York Times 10/18/99:

"According to analysts and executives close to SBC, the company plans to spend about $4.5 billion on D.S.L. systems provided mostly by ALCATEL of France and on replacing some copper lines into local networks with fiber-optic systems. The other $1.5 billion will be spent mostly on deploying advanced transmission systems in the core of the company's network, using a technology called asynchronous transfer mode."

"providedly mostly," if that is correct, Alcatel seems to be a huge winner in this deal. I certainly hope that Newbridge captures a huge chunk of the $1.5 billion ATM portion. I suspect that Lucent will also be a winner here too.
