Leland,

The HHH is not really the same animal as the QQQ or SPY. It is sold only by Merrill Lynch and is not shortable. (They claim it will be) It is not optionable like the QQQ and you are correct, the spread is bigger. I've done a good deal of trading with the QQQ and the QQQ options. Spreads are more reasonable and they can be traded between the spread. I will post a link to a discussion I had with another poster regarding this topic.
