The object is not to pay more but to make more(or lose less).

Therefore it is better to have paid 17 1/8 and have the stock down to 16 1/2; than to have paid 65 3/4 and have it down to 64.

Of course, its best not to lose anything all but to make $. You'll get to that in the second half of the course.
