<<Put proceeds 1.9 billion. Maffei said Whoa! what a quarter!!- >>

I still think Ballmer's statements were designed to help their put proceeds. It's so simple, they load up (remember that 10K contract buy/sell block?), talk the stock down, cover their put positions, load up on calls and then blow out the numbers. Why not do that?

Question:

Does the 1.9 Billion PUT proceeds appear as profits or are you saying MSFT made 2.2 B in operating profits, and another 1.9 B in Put sales, as well as 400 M in investments

take care
Jean

>Maffei said Whoa! what a quarter!!- I don't believe this! He is ecstatic!

Did someone slip something into his pre-conference drink? Or perhaps someone hypnotized him?

Note also that Maffei "cautioned analysts not to raise next (this) quarter's estimates higher than 42&cent". He's probably thinking to himself, "Because we'll probably come in at 45&cent, and we want to blow them away, yet again".

LOL. These guys were tough to live with in the summer, but October has sure put them into a jovial mood.
