Thanks. That was my thought, although frankly I didn't look into it very deeply. On the theory that DRAM will be cheaper in a few months I ordered only 64 meg DRAM on one DIMM; will upgrade later when pricing comes down.

By the way, I placed the order yesterday on-line. They gave me an estimated ship date two weeks off. I called to ask why, was told it was because of supply constraint in the Celeron chip. (?!) But this evening I got an email indicating that the laptop had been shipped today, the day after my order! Very painless on-line ordering process and a satisfactory customer experience so far.

I'm a long-term shareholder with a basis of less than 1, so I was happy to chat with the sales rep a little bit and get her view on the current "supply troubles." As far as the sales force is concerned, there is no supply problem; or sales problem either. Orders are way up and everyone is selling like crazy. Anecdotal perhaps, but I'm quite comfortable with the current story and with the stock's future. I have plenty of DELL stock, but I rather wish I'd bought some calls today, because we probably won't see those prices again.

Cheers.
