HDC-- you didn't ask me, but IDC on 6/1/99 estimated the NAS market would grow from 540 million in 1998 to 5.1Billion in 2003, growth of 54% a year.

IDC also said market development would accelerate in late 1999 as first-tier vendors enter the NAS market

HDC, I can really say if the 50% estimate from IDC is accurate, but I have been in the IT business for a while and the number is credible to me.

i wish I could cite the study, but buried in these posts somewhere is an IDC or Gartner article estimating the NAS market to be about $40B over the next few years. That same article said that NTAP has about 40% of the NAS market right now.

I could not read the article that you posted, as the Yahoo article had "expired".

Sorry for being so vague, trying to catch up after being away for almost 4 days.
