Office Depot To Carry Excite@Home's High-Speed Cable Internet

DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Office Depot, Inc. (NYSE: ODP), the world's largest
seller of office products, today announced that it will offer its customers Excite@Home's (Nasdaq:
ATHM) high-speed cable Internet service @Home, becoming the first office products retailer to join
@Home's Retail Merchandising Program. While the offer will initially be made available in 75 Office
Depot stores in the United States, both companies intend to pursue a strategy of aggressive
expansion. Over time, customers at any of the 750+ Office Depot superstores throughout the United
States will be able to demo the @Home service, talk to a cable representative, set up an installation
time and purchase the necessary @Home Cable Internet Pre- Installation Kit -- all in a single,
convenient in-store visit.
An @Home hot-line phone will instantly connect Office Depot's in-store
customers to a cable company representative who will answer their
questions, sign them up for service, and arrange for a convenient
installation time. Interested consumers can then purchase the @Home
Cable Internet Pre- installation Kit and receive coupons for valuable
savings on their set-up costs. The kit also features the @Home
Preview CD-ROM and the @Home Welcome Guide which provides
consumers a preview of the @Home service even before they are
completely wired.
