to truedog:

Interesting enough. I was wondering why you believed newborns to be sinless. I don't believe this is the case because I believe that sin is inherent to our being (original sin, human condition, whatever you want to call it). So to say that newborns do not have this condition and it is a learned condition takes away from the idea that God created us with this human condition and a need for salvation. I was just wondering why you believed it. It doesn't seem to be a necessary belief to me in my faith to say that newborns are sinless. Suffice it to say that God will save those he wishes to and the death of an infant or newborn certainly classifies them as one who has not sinned greatly against God, never having had the chance... and so while I don't know why you believe what you believe (yet; hopefully you will explain) and don't agree with it I certainly think God shows mercy on newborns and infants.
