Gary, I'm not sure. Perhaps if you have an IR contact, they might be willing to comment.

One guess might be they are trying to keep "risk" under control by not taking some "more risky" trades they may have taken in the past. This is only speculation, of course. I know KP wants to keep that $8/trade number intact. This may have to come at the expense of volume, at least in the short term. You know, volume doesn't mean squat if those trades yield nothing (I guess AMZN would disagree <g>).

Another guess might be that NASD volume may still be concentrated in the mega-caps, where we know NITE is just one of perhaps 40 to 50 MMs. I'm not sure volumes of the mid and small caps has increased along with overall vols.
