Paul,

I looked at OMN - didn't really like the growth part of the equation, the industry (construction) outlook at the current time, or the history of value creation for the combined company. From the 10-12B:

- 42 million shares
- $766 Sales, $1.10 EPS for FY '98 (ended Nov. 98)
- $367 Sales, $0.55 EPS for 6 Months '99 (ended May 99)
- $302 million in equity ($7.20 book value/share)
- ~$200 million in debt
- $8 share price
- 36% Performance Chemicals, 64% Decorative & Building Products

Most of the growth has come through acquisitions, otherwise, things have looked pretty flat to me. It's cheap for sure but there are lots of construction-related stocks out there for similar prices and better pure-plays to attract investor attention.

CIR has recently been spun off. 10% growth rate through intrinsic growth and acquisition, trading below book ($13), $0.88 EPS, $10 share price. Not outstanding yet, but one to watch especially in Oil & Gas stay strong.

Been adding to JCP, TEN, ARJ. Will add to VTIV once I lose a little bit more money! DPH is getting to be close to a buy for me and would be a long term hold (it needs 3+ years to work out its strategy). IT class B recently distributed also looks interesting. JCP (dropping like a stone) would probably be my top pick especially with the recent sale of its Credit Card business. Thought I saw you owned JCP at about $35 before a previous run up - are you in it now?
