You are forgetting the MAJOR FLAW in your statement. If the masses of america all believe the market is going to go up forever, they will do everything in their power to make it so. Their elected officials will do everything to keep the market alive, as it represents the wealth of the nation and the savings of every widower.

So basically, the stock market cannot truly crash unless The United States Of America itself collapses. It is a national shared delusion, and since we're the strongest country on earth our delusions can outlast anyone's wildest predictions.
