Would fully agree with you on the 15.00 more a trade. There will be some account transfer applications heading out in the mail soon. Was very surprised to hear that they had raised the trading cost. That sure goes against all this media pushed "free" trading down the road talk.

"New online brokerage"? i tried to see it, they directed me to the old, ugly, Discover website.
what are they going to do with their 17,000 brokers?
what are they going to say to their long time customers? "sorry, we've been ripping you off all these years, but no longer, please don't leave to ETRADE! stay with us".
it will be fascinating to see how all these changes play out in time.
my bet (heavy bet) is that EGRP will come out not only with flying colors, but being the winner.
they are just now offering online trading to their 65-year old customers, while E*Trade is creating quietly but steadily the first global cross border trading network 24 x 7 x 365.
while those 65-year olds learn how to use their computers and connect to the internet in the first place, we, through our ETRADE accounts, will be trading at night japanese and hong kong stocks, european stocks, and foreign currencies.
