Outside party investing often brings about a loss of control as the demand for capital brought by the results of previous investments inevitably rise. Other or big players will take a company in the worst directions effectively ruining it and then effectively abandoning it. The proprietors end up in debt. See Royal Oak. This has nothing to do necessarily with great expectations about performance and the ensuing greed to retain worth. After all, that's all we have here.
