Gary, That is quite true, a level playing ground is needed. We have had out of state mail order sellers taking a portion of brick and mortar sales for no other reason than prices.
I too am in Canada and have the unenviable joy of paying an 8% sales tax and a 7% goods and services tax(GST = VAT that Europeans pay) which is 15%. For you mellicans these taxes are levied on imported goods from the USA as well. USA made good are duty free under free trade, but they still attract the sales tax and GST.
The economy of scale hurts Canadian MO operators. With 10% of the US population we have 7.5% of the USA Gross National Product. This is because we have these high taxes in addition to 56% top income tax brackets and home mortgage interest paid is not tax deductable(but no cap gains tax on your home when sold)
So we have the best federal goverment money can buy, if you look at recent scandals with the Prime Minister, crooked as a snake and just as lovable.
BC has a crooked government too. Whcih Province are you in?
