Mark, I guess that analyst is finally seeing that "sign of a real business slowdown" which has been so elusive. Those holding IBM are seeing it too and apparently they don't like it very much.

From the market's response to IBM and others who have mentioned possible y2k effects, I wouldn't be surprised if other companies re-thought mentioning y2k in relation to their earnings, whether or not they are expecting any effects.

Just heard a blip on NPR about y2k: said the banks wouldn't even notice the date change, and that we should consider y2k a buying opportunity, among other things. Maybe they have something, buy companies that mention y2k in their earnings statements after they tank 20-50%. : )
