Arda for India-born Sharif
Amritsar village prays for Sharif
Jatti Umra (Amritsar), October 20 (Navjot Sidhu)

"We are doing ?ardas? at a gurudwara for Mr Nawaz Sharif. We are also planning to
keep ?akhand path? for his long life,? said Arjun Singh, who was a close friend of Mr
Sharif.

The people of Mr Sharif?s native village Jatti Umra, which is about 35 km from
Amritsar, are worried about his future.

When they came to know about his arrest, a pall of gloom descended on the
village. They immediately rushed to a gurudwara situated in his ancestral house to
pray for him.

When this correspondent visited the village, the villagers were doing ?ardas? for the
long life of Mr Sharif. They were also praying for his early release from the Army?s
custody.

Mr Arjun Singh had recently gone to Pakistan on behalf of the villagers. With tears
in eyes, he said: ?We are feeling uncomfortable as Mr Sharif is in trouble.

?It was terrible time for us when we heard the news that his government had been
toppled.?

Another villager, Bali Singh, said that they would soon keep an ?akhand path? for
his long life. ?It is difficult for us to bear him in this position.?

He added that he had given us a lot of love. Even after the partition, his brothers
had visited the village on many occasions. ?When we went to meet him in
Pakistan, he treated us well. We feel very bad for him as he is a nice person. He
had tried his best for better ties between the two countries,? he added

Maybe because there are hardly any British left in India, the VHP, RSS, Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena et al are targeting the religious minorities!

Btw, the 130,000 number from Britain is about "incidents", not crimes per se. In contrast, in India, a guy could even get murdered and the police could still refuse to even issue an FIR (First Information Report)!

You are comparing apples with rancid, putrid, rotten mushrooms and trying to make something out of it.
