SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 1999--

Japan-U.S. Telecommunications Research Institute Hosts Biannual Conference on "New Alliances for World Communications"

e.Digital Corp. EDIG announced today that it has accepted an invitation to present at the Eighth Biannual Conference of the Japan-U.S. Telecommunications Research Institute (JUSTRI) taking place November 9-10 in Washington, D.C. The conference theme is "New Alliances for World Communications," and the company's technology discussion will focus on portable devices and the Internet.

Fred Falk, president and chief executive officer of e.Digital, said, "The development of mobile devices that link to the Internet is in its infancy. Consumers want instant, portable access to the flow of vital business news, information and entertainment options available on the Internet. With the telecommunications industry beginning to incorporate Internet access and removable flash memory into wireless phones, numerous applications are opening up for e.Digital's MicroOS(TM) file management system." He added, "This convergence of technologies will maximize the Internet's usefulness in our personal, mobile lives."

Brian K. White, vice president of JUSTRI, said, "'New Alliances for World Communications' promises to be our most informative and provocative conference to date; a blockbuster event bringing together policy makers and industry leaders from Japan and the United States in an exploration of the technology and regulatory challenges surrounding the emerging global, digital communications landscape. JUSTRI looks forward to hosting e.Digital, a firm pushing the innovation envelope in connecting mobile devices to the Internet."

Falk concluded, "We have been invited to present our technology and views on the future of portable devices and the Internet to over forty multinational telecommunications and information companies. We are honored to have this opportunity and look forward to the exchange of ideas with such a diverse, influential group. JUSTRI members have the wherewithal to develop and implement systems to provide powerful new services to the entire Pacific Rim."
